I was watching Mulan and the commander called him in. He said your gift is powerful, why do you hide it?
Recently I was on a plane going home to visit my family for Christmas. While on the plane, I watched the new Disney movie Mulan. I do not want to spoil the movie for those who have not watched it but I will talk about a particular scene that spoke to me loud and clear.
Ok, so let me describe this scene as vaguely as I can for those who did not see it.
Mulan, who was disguised as a male soldier accidently let out her 'Chi" as she was practicing battle moves with another fellow soldier. Of course she won and everyone saw she was gifted, including the high officials. She immediately ran back to the barracks and started to tell herself she should not have done that. Ok, I'm paraphrasing. I told you, I am not going to ruin the movie for those who saw it but hopefully you remember this scene.
The commander calls Mulan into his quarters and says: Your gift is powerful, why do you hide it?
This spoke to me because I have been putting off my gifts given to me by God for a long time. I have been wanting to start a blog and do so many others things. I have been hesitant due to fear of what others think and not knowing where to start. I was not happy because I was not doing the things that God put on my heart to do. The desire to write has never left me and has become a burning flame in my heart.
I decided at that moment to move forward no matter what anyone says and start this blog.
I am sharing this to let anyone know if you have not moved or acted in something it is ok. God will use anything like he used this movie to speak to me. Thank you Lord for speaking to me through my favorite movies.
Mulan is a great movie with a Iot of positive messages. I agree that many of us hide our gifts in fear of what others may think.
This blog may give people that little push they need. Follow your dreams and keep "GOD FIRST"
I hope the Mulan battle practice example was not an allegory to you beating Eric play wrestling. If so please tell him that there is no shame in this, his aunt Stephanie uses her chi to beat me regularly. So he is in good company
I am so excited to see you moving forward Keisha! Keep on Keeping on!
